The Backstory of the BARKOPAEDIA Title
Originally BARKOPAEDIA was going to have a nice boring name - like Happy Healthy Dog or something equally snooze-worthy.
It was intended that the book would be around 300 pages. However, thanks to the pandemic and my need to be constantly busy during the quarantine, it morphed into an encyclopedia over 650 pages. (It was over 700 but it was impossible to upload it to Create Space, which is a another story for another time.)
During the pandemic quarantine , we were re-watching the classic TV show - How I Met Your Mother for probably the 100th time, to keep us laughing and sane.
It was Ted Mosby's pronunciation of encyclopedia
(Encyclopædia) that became the deciding factor that the book should be called BARK OH PAY DEE AH!
Of course this is an inside joke and we do not expect anyone to understand it, nor pronounce the title correctly, unless their name is Ted Mosby. Unfortunately he is allergic to dogs.
